April 18, 2017 / Independent Youth News

April 18, 2017 – Manhattan, NY – SCO Family of Services is proud to announce that Holly Brickey, a Senior Caseworker in SCO’s Close to Home Program, has been recognized by New York Nonprofit Media as a Front Line Hero. Every year, NYN Media recognizes Front Line Heroes from the nonprofit industry who work in the field directly helping clients and making their organizations’ goals a reality through hard work and dedication. Front Line Heroes display excellence in their commitment to serving those in need.

Holly Brickey was one of 20 Front Line Heroes from nonprofit agencies throughout New York who were recognized for their outstanding work at an Awards Banquet at 121 Fulton Street in Downtown Manhattan on April 18th.

Holly is a Senior Caseworker in SCO’s Close to Home (C2H) Program – a network of residences which provide non-secure placement for 13-17 year old youth involved in the juvenile justice system. Since Holly began her career at SCO in 2008, she has worked with youth who present unique challenges: youth in foster care; youth with serious emotional disturbances and currently youth involved in the juvenile justice system. Many find it difficult to work with these young people, but not Holly. Holly is able to build a strong connection to these vulnerable, traumatized and troubled youth. They trust her and open their hearts to her.

Holly is the definition of “strength-based”. She is able to hone in on a youth and family’s strengths. She is a fierce advocate for youth and their families. They know that in Holly, they have someone who will fight for them and will move “heaven and earth” to meet their myriad of needs. Holly is kind, compassionate, passionate, caring, empathetic, understanding, helpful and feisty. She puts her heart and soul into her work and works tirelessly for the youth and families she serves.

Holly’s supervisor, Rhonda Jackson, Director of Social Services for Close to Home, said, “Holly brings hope to youth and families who have lost hope. She is a beacon of light for the youth and families whose lives are too often filled with darkness. She helps them see what is possible and then she rolls up her sleeves and helps them achieve it.”

Congratulations, Holly, on being recognized as a “Front Line Hero” – an award that is so well-deserved!
