SCO’s Stephen Hanmer Speaks about the Need for School Transportation for Youth in Foster Care at NYC Committee Hearing

Stephen Hanmer, Director of Education and Permanency Support of SCO’s Foster Care program, spoke passionately at the NYC Council Education Committee Hearing about the need for transportation for youth in foster care to attend their school of origin.

Stephen shared an example of a real case to emphasize the importance of keeping children who have been placed in foster care in the schools of origin to maintain connections to their teachers, friends and others who provide stability during a very difficult time in their lives.
