GARDEN CITY, NY – [February 20, 2024] – SCO Family of Services, a leading human services agency that provides essential services to children, adults, and families, was named a Finalist in the Social Impact and the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility (DEIA) categories in the 12th Annual Long Island Imagine Awards.

The Long Island Imagine Awards, now in its 12th year, was founded by Ken Cerini, CPA, Cerini & Associates LLP as a way to showcase the nonprofit sector and all the good work that it does, as well as provide opportunities for deeper collaboration within the sector. More than 150 nonprofit applications were submitted for consideration in six categories: Arts & Culture, Innovation, Leadership Excellence, Rising Star, Social Impact, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA). SCO Family of Services is one of four finalists in both the Social Impact and the DEIA categories.

SCO’s Madonna Heights campus was selected as a finalist in the Social Impact category, recognized for its comprehensive and trauma-informed approach to caring for women and girls. Madonna Heights in Dix Hills is expressly designed to meet the unique needs of women and girls who have undergone trauma or hardship and are in need of holistic support. Services address substance abuse, medical needs, and mental health challenges and are offered on a beautiful 56-acre campus, providing a total healing environment.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility are values tightly woven into the fabric of SCO’s culture, programs, and services. SCO firmly believes that communities are stronger when programs and services are more inclusive and is “intentional” in advancing equitable and inclusive practices that foster a feeling of belonging among its clients and staff.

“SCO is honored to be recognized among such incredible organizations that enhance the lives of so many on Long Island,” said Suzette Gordon, President & CEO of SCO Family of Services. “We are thrilled to be named a finalist in two categories. This recognition is a testament to the efforts of our leadership and staff to create an inclusive organization that honors our mission of strengthening families and communities.”

The winner of each category will be announced live at a gala event on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, 6-10pm at the Crest Hollow Country Club, Woodbury, NY, providing unlimited networking and connection opportunities for the corporate and nonprofit sectors while highlighting the exceptional work of the finalist organizations. The 24 finalists, 4 in each category, receive a professionally produced video that is showcased the night of the event and two free tickets to attend. In addition, each finalist will receive $1,000 courtesy of Diamond Sponsor SterlingRisk Insurance and one in each category will be announced LIVE at the event.
