SCO Family of Services, a leading provider of essential human services in communities throughout New York City and Long Island, has received a large donation of merchandise from Burlington Stores to distribute to thousands of client families in New York. Burlington Stores, a leading national off-price retailer, partnered with Delivering Good, a national nonprofit that connects donated merchandise to people in need, to deliver over 35,000 items to SCO – ranging from clothing to bedding to household goods – on twelve fully-loaded tractor trailers. The donation is valued at over $500,000.
Merchandise was delivered to five SCO locations in Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island to reach as many client families as possible. Upon receipt, SCO staff and volunteers sorted the items to provide recipients with items that most closely matched their needs. The merchandise was distributed to clients throughout SCO Family of Services’ programs, including women’s and family shelters, foster care, and family support, as well as community residents at certain locations. Program sites that received items for distribution included:
- Father’s Program – Brownsville, Brooklyn
- United for Brownsville – Brownsville, Brooklyn
- El Camino Family Shelter – Jamaica, Queens
- Genovese Family Life Center – Jamaica, Queens
- Madonna Heights – Dix Hills, Long Island
