GARDEN CITY, NY – SCO Family of Services, a leading human services agency that provides essential services to children, adults, and families, is thrilled to have won the prestigious Social Impact Award at the 12th Annual Long Island Imagine Awards.
The Cerini & Associates Social Impact Award is given to a nonprofit that measures success not just by meeting its mission, but by affecting the surrounding community. SCO’s Madonna Heights campus was honored with the award in recognition of its comprehensive and trauma-informed approach to caring for women and girls. Madonna Heights in Dix Hills is expressly designed to meet the unique needs of women and girls who have undergone trauma or hardship and need holistic support. Services address substance abuse, medical needs, and mental health challenges and are offered on a beautiful 56-acre campus, providing a total healing environment. See video.
“SCO is honored to be recognized among such incredible organizations that enhance the lives of so many on Long Island,” said Suzette Gordon, President & CEO of SCO Family of Services. “This recognition is a testament to the combined efforts, dedication, and commitment of all 3,000 of SCO’s incredible employees to create an inclusive organization that honors our mission of strengthening families and communities. I am so proud of what we have accomplished together on behalf of the 50,000 New Yorkers we serve.”
The Long Island Imagine Awards, now in its 12th year, was founded by Ken Cerini, CPA, Cerini & Associates LLP, as a way to showcase the nonprofit sector and all the good work that it does, as well as provide opportunities for deeper collaboration within the sector. More than 150 nonprofit applications were submitted for consideration in six categories: Arts & Culture; Innovation; Leadership Excellence; Rising Star; Social Impact; and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA).
In addition to winning the Social Impact Awards, SCO Family of Services was one of four finalists in the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility (DEIA) category. DEIA are values tightly woven into the fabric of SCO’s culture, programs, and services. SCO firmly believes that communities are stronger when programs and services are more inclusive and is “intentional” in advancing equitable and inclusive practices that foster a feeling of belonging among its clients and staff.
