SCO Fathers’ Program Holds Daddy & Me Holiday Party
December 30, 2024 / SCO News
The SCO Fathers’ Program held its first Daddy & Me Holiday party at SCO’s Beacon at M.S. 35. Fathers and their children enjoyed a variety of activities, prizes, dinner, music and more. Children cheered on their dads in Daddy Only activities, friendly competitions that got dads to step out of their comfort zones while interacting with other dads. Activity Stations included Create your Own Kwanza/Holiday Ornament and Character Page, a Lego Station, Giant Checkers and Pin the Nose on the Reindeer.
The SCO Off To College Program Leaders created and facilitated all the event activities. Prior to the event, they held a toy drive so each child attending could take toys home with them.
The Holiday Party culminated with each dad receiving a $200 gift card to help with their holiday needs, thanks to a grant from Good+Foundation. Good+ partners with SCO to provide pampers, wipes, and other essentials to fathers in the program periodically through the year.
The gift cards provided a teachable moment. Prior to receiving the gift cards, the dads engaged in a Needs vs. Wants activity, where they listed their needs vs. their wants and engaged in conversations about prioritizing and budgeting.
The Fathers’ Program would like to thank the Beacon for providing the space and their support, the volunteers for assisting with facilitating the activities, and the Good+ Foundation for donating the gift cards. Thanks to all of you, the Daddy & Me Holiday Party was a huge success!
