DSP

Congratulations to Shirlene McGee, Direct Support Professional (DSP) at SCO Family of Services Wheatley Heights Individual Residential Alternative (IRA). Shirlene was recognized at the NY Alliance – Long Island DSP Conference for her dedication and commitment to improving the quality of life for those with whom she works.

She demonstrates outstanding performance in her role of supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and continually seeks out new ways and best practices to enhance the level of care.  She stays current on new behavioral approaches, leveraging resources such as the educational sessions at the NY Alliance Conference, and shares that knowledge with her team so they can incorporate the information into their program.

Shirlene regularly displays the values of an outstanding DSP. She is a wonderful communicator who bridges the gap between management and all shifts of the program, ensuring that vital information is shared across shifts. She is an advocate for and passionate about working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Thank you for all that you do, Shirlene! You are the definition of an outstanding DSP and leader. Our DSPs are the heart and soul of everything we do to help people with disabilities reach their full potential. Congratulations!
