“Strong Dads, Brighter Futures” Celebrates Fathers’ Program Graduates

On May 21^st, SCO’s Fathers’ Program held its annual “Strong Dads, Brighter Futures” event to celebrate the graduation of fathers who have completed the program. The event was held both in-person at the Billie Holiday Theater in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, and virtually to accommodate the graduates’ schedules.

Over twenty-five fathers attended, many accompanied by their children. The event was an opportunity to celebrate our graduates, distribute information and resources, and support dads seeking to create and maintain meaningful relationships with their children.

SCO’s Wonder with Me program presented gift cards to those dads who attended an Infant Mental Health Workshop via Zoom and in-person. Lucky raffle winners took home book bundles, and the grand prize winner won a bike, all donated by our partner, Good Plus.

The event culminated with dinner and a certificate presentation to the dads who had successfully completed the Fathers’ Program curriculum. Each dad received a certificate in recognition of his success.

One of the most important aspects of “Strong Dads, Brighter Futures” was to give fathers an opportunity to interact with other dads in an informal setting, giving them the chance to network and share their personal stories.
