On May 31st, the SCO Fathers’ Program held its annual “Strong Dads, Brighter Futures” event in partnership with the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development’s “Spring into Health” event at the Brooklyn Bridge Pier 2 roller skating rink.
Dads currently in Fathers’ Program came together with past graduates for some healthy physical activity with their kids and for an opportunity to engage with each other.
Many dads had not skated in years and were a bit apprehensive at first. However, once they started skating, they were surprised how quickly they picked it up again.
Great food and music contributed to the positive, upbeat atmosphere of this wonderful family day. Some dads even played chess. SCO’s Off To College Leaders volunteered to help manage the day’s activities.
Through SCO’s continued partnership with Good+Foundation, families were able to take home donated diapers, clothes, toys and books that the organization had provided.
The Fathers’ Program’s annual “Strong Dads, Brighter Futures” event continues to be an integral part of the program, allowing all the fathers to come together and celebrate being a part of a larger community, where support and tangible resources are provided to help them and their families be successful.
