The Dandelion Project Honors SCO Case Planners

The Dandelion Project, a youth group supporting children and families, held a luncheon to honor SCO Family of Services’ foster care and residential case planners

QUEENS, NEW YORK (August 28, 2026) The Dandelion Project, led by founder Mikaela Gee, hosted a celebratory luncheon on August 12th to honor SCO Family of Services’ foster care and residential case planning staff.

The event took place at SCO’s Ottilie campus in Briarwood, where more than 100 case planners in attendance were recognized for the tremendous impact they have on the children and families they serve. Music, raffles, giveaways and a delicious buffet lunch made for a fun, lively afternoon.

“Our foster care and residential case planners provide guidance, stability, advocacy, and hope to the children and families we serve. The difference they make is lasting and profound,” said Suzette Gordon, President and CEO of SCO Family of Services. “We are grateful to The Dandelion Project and Mikaela Gee for helping us shine a spotlight on our staff and reminding them that their efforts are seen, valued, and appreciated.”

Also in attendance to help celebrate were Alison Yee and Isabel Traore from New Yorkers for Children, Keoneshia Bailey-Dung and Yssalina Morillo from the NYC Public Schools Office of Foster Care, and Georgia Katsalis from the office of Queens Borough President Donovan Richards.

This was the second event by The Dandelion Project in support of SCO Family of Services. In December, the group held a Toy Drive – bringing joy to kids and youth in foster care by providing presents to open for the holidays. The luncheon was an extension of that project by honoring the people who support those children every day.
