The Divine Nine, a coalition of nine sororities and fraternities, came together to host a party and toy drive for SCO Family of Services youth and families.

QUEENS, NEW YORK (December 17, 2025) The Divine Nine sororities and fraternities came together December 12th to throw a holiday party for SCO Family of Services’ youth and families.

The event took place at SCO’s Ottilie campus in Briarwood, where 120 children in attendance received gift bags and gift cards that the Divine Nine had collected through toy drives. Numerous activities were available for youth and families, and guests enjoyed great food and music for the festive evening.

“The compassion and generosity of the Divine Nine have helped make the holiday season magical for our children,” said Suzette Gordon, President and CEO of SCO Family of Services. “They are a shining example of the power of community.”

The Divine Nine, also known as the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), was founded on May 10, 1930, at Howard University in Washington, DC. with the mission of working together during a time when African Americans were being denied essential rights and privileges afforded to others. Since its inception, the Divine Nine have worked to help local communities, and support organizations like SCO. The Divine Nine comprises nine different sororities and fraternities, including Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho and Iota Phi Theta.

For the past six years, the Nu Beta Sigma chapter of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority and the Gamma Rho Sigma chapter of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity have partnered together to host a toy drive for SCO. The event has grown to include all members of the Divine Nine, who joined forces to host an even bigger toy drive for SCO with the goal of providing even more children with a special gift and a wonderful evening this holiday season.
