February 18, 2021 / Madonna Heights News

In honor of Black History Month, the Theta Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority sent an individual strand of pearls which symbolizes wisdom to the young women in our Group Residence, along with a book focusing on justice and cohesion called The Truths We Hold by Vice President Kamala Harris. For over 20 years, the sorority has been working with our residents and due to COVID-19, they were not able to come on-site but continued their work with the young women. The Group Residence hosts “The Book Club” every Wednesday with a reading hour and it includes a discussion over tea or hot cocoa.

For over 50 years, Theta Iota Omega Chapter has implemented effective programs that have impacted Long Island, New York State and abroad. In co-sponsorship with its philanthropic arm, Ivy Foundation Suffolk/Nassau Counties Inc,.
