SCO Youth Graduate from Financial Literacy Program

March 23, 2026 / Independent Youth News

Congratulations to the incredible young people from our Independence Inns and Brooklyn Youth Center who successfully completed the Financial Literacy Program through SCO’s Webster Bank Finance Lab.

Over the past several weeks, these participants demonstrated true commitment, discipline, and resilience. Through a blend of virtual and in person sessions, they leaned into every opportunity to grow, even when faced with cold weather, snow, and rain. They showed up, stayed engaged, and pushed forward.

Throughout the program, they built a strong foundation in personal finance, exploring topics such as taxes, credit, credit scores, budgeting, risk management, and a range of other essential financial skills that will serve them for years to come. The youth actively participated by asking thoughtful questions and applying these concepts to their own lives.

This journey was about more than financial literacy. It was about building confidence, strengthening decision making, and developing the mindset needed to take control of their futures.

The Webster Bank Finance Lab was created to provide youth and families with the skills needed for financial empowerment and future financial well-being, an essential part of improving socioeconomic mobility. Programs like this are not just impactful. They are transformational.

We are so proud of our new graduates! Their future is bright, and this is only the beginning.
