QUEENS, NEW YORK (December 16, 2024) — The Astoria Car Club teamed up with the NYPD Community Affairs Queens Outreach Division to kick off the holiday season with their annual Toy Run to benefit the children and families served by SCO Family of Services, one of the region’s largest providers of essential human services.
Excited children and families gathered at the Bay Terrace Mall in Queens on December 8th to receive holiday toys and get a chance to meet Santa!
The festive holiday event included a car show, many decked out with holiday lights. Hot chocolate and holiday music helped set the mood. Santa Claus greeted and posed for photos with every child, and youth in SCO’s mentorship programs escorted children through the mountain of toys to find the perfect one.
New York State Assembly Member Michael Novakhov stopped by to help celebrate, presenting SCO and the event’s hosts with certificates recognizing their support for the community.
This was the 10th year of the annual Toy Run, which began in 2015 with the goal of helping families who may be facing tough times and in need of support. Anthony Primiani, the event’s founder and a member of the Astoria Car Club, and his wife, Elena Scarlelli, worked with SCO to combine their love of cars with their desire to help local communities.
SCO extends its gratitude to Anthony Primiani, Elena Scarlelli, the Astoria Car Club, the NYPD Community Affairs Queens Outreach Division, 360 Motorsports, Teggy’s Elite Detailing, Deluxe Detailing and Team Auto Body for their generous support, as well as King Souvlaki, who donated food for all the kids.
