Janeese Goldman’s Story

Janeese Goldman founded Karla’s Kompanions in honor of her late mother, as a way to give back to the community. Karla’s Kompanions is a valued partner of SCO, supporting several initiatives that directly benefit the individuals and families we serve.

Most recently, Karla’s Kompanions donated supplies to last year’s Back-to-School Drive, helping ensure students had the materials they needed to start the school year prepared and confident. They also adopted our Morris Koppelman Early Childhood Education Center by sponsoring their Holiday Wishlist, generously providing holiday gifts for the children and families in the program.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Art League of Long Island for their generous support of SCO Family of Services’ 2026 Back-to-School Supply Drive. The Art League graciously displayed our collection box in their gallery, providing members, visitors, and members of the community with an opportunity to give back and help local children prepare for a successful new school year.

Thanks to their partnership and the generosity of those who donated, SCO was able to collect much-needed school supplies that will directly benefit the children and families we serve. Their commitment to community engagement and helping others make a meaningful difference in the lives of our youth. Thank you, Art League of Long Island, for helping our students start the school year with confidence and the tools they need to succeed!

Meet Anthony Petroro

Day Habilitation

Anthony Petroro has worked for SCO Family of Services for over 27 years. He is well-liked by the program participants and is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that they get the best program experience. 

Anthony always volunteers to take as many program participants as possible to any of the group events to ensure that everyone can participate if they would like.

He volunteers to make his famous macaroni and cheese for the holiday party every year, which the program participants always look forward to, and stays after every party to assist with cleaning up without ever being asked.

Anthony’s upbeat and positive personality makes all the program participants want to work with him. Anthony is truly a valued employee of the Day Habilitation program.
