We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Art League of Long Island for their generous support of SCO Family of Services’ 2026 Back-to-School Supply Drive. The Art League graciously displayed our collection box in their gallery, providing members, visitors, and members of the community with an opportunity to give back and help local children prepare for a successful new school year.

Thanks to their partnership and the generosity of those who donated, SCO was able to collect much-needed school supplies that will directly benefit the children and families we serve. Their commitment to community engagement and helping others make a meaningful difference in the lives of our youth. Thank you, Art League of Long Island, for helping our students start the school year with confidence and the tools they need to succeed!

Safelite’s Story

The Safelite Long Island team supports local families through two annual SCO Family of Services programs that closely align with Safelite’s commitment to provide safety, stability, and a sense of belonging to the foster care community: our Holiday Wishlist and Back-to-School initiatives.

The Holiday Wishlist initiative supports families during the holiday season by fulfilling specific gift requests for children and caregivers, helping to ensure they can experience a joyful and meaningful holiday.

The Back-to-School initiative focuses on preparing children for a successful school year by providing essential items such as backpacks, school supplies, and age-appropriate resources.

Safelite supports both initiatives through generous donations, which help us purchase and distribute these much-needed items. Their support plays a vital role in helping us meet the needs of the families we serve during these meaningful times of the year.

Partnering with an organization that so powerfully uplifts communities reflects our shared belief that through fostering change together, everyone can overcome challenges with a clear road ahead.

Meet Bernadette St. Rose

Case Manager

Bernadette St. Rose

Bernadette St. Rose consistently goes above and beyond what is expected of her. She trains all new Case Managers and Intake Workers and troubleshoots problems across departments, not just within Social Services.

Bernadette began her employment at Flushing as a Recreation Worker in 2015. Since then, she has obtained the necessary degree and was promoted to Case Manager in 2023. 

Bernadette works closely with the families to ensure that their concerns are addressed in a timely manner. The phrase “they are not on my caseload” never factors into the decision making when the families are seeking assistance. She is always willing to help.
