The Marilyn Lichtman Foundation’s Story

SCO Family of Services is deeply honored to shine a spotlight on the Marilyn Lichtman Foundation for their extraordinary generosity and support of our Robert J. McMahon Children’s Center (RJMCC) Capital Campaign.

Thanks to their recent gift, we are taking transformative steps to reimagine the Tyree Vocational Classroom/Life Skills space inside the Tyree Learning Center: a New York State-certified special education school dedicated to children with developmental and behavioral challenges. Their support is making critical renovations possible, including modernizing the classroom, adding adaptive equipment and new appliances, and creating a nurturing, therapeutic learning space designed to meet the unique needs of every student.

The Marilyn Lichtman Foundation’s belief in the potential of every child and their dedication to education, healing, and hope is helping us create an environment where young people can truly thrive. Their compassion is not only improving lives today, but also opening doors to brighter tomorrows.

Marilyn Aris

Marilyn Aris has worked at our Canarsie IRA for the last 14 years where she has consistently displayed professionalism and respect to all.

Marilyn has been the ultimate professional DSP who has a good relationship with everyone. She is passionate about the people she supports and is eager to have them participate in quality community outings. She is aware of all her clients’ birthdays and ensures that each person has a cake to celebrate and share with their peers. 

Marilyn ensures that the Program Coordinator receives pertinent program information and has been instrumental in getting overdue tasks completed as a new Assistant Manager comes on board.

Marilyn is an excellent problem-solver and has expressed a desire to learn more about managerial duties to develop her job skills. She is levelheaded and displays a calm demeanor when working with clients and collaborating with staff. She motivates her team members to collect quality data and offer numerous community integration opportunities for the individuals in our care.
