For more than 130 years, SCO has delivered programs and services to New York’s most under-resourced communities, offering long-term, life-changing results. Through our vast network of programs, we offer a continuum of care and services that gets young children off to a good start, launches youth into adulthood, stabilizes and strengthens families, and unlocks potential for children and adults with special needs.

    Community Habilitation

    The Community Habilitation program teaches children and adults who are living at home daily living skills and gives them the opportunity to participate in activities that foster independence and will allow them to live in the community successfully.

    Day Habilitation Programs

    Our Day Hab program offers adults with developmental disabilities a place where they can socialize, participate in community activities, and develop skills and interests. One-to-one activities are available for those who cannot function in a group setting.

    Drop-In Lounge for Adults with Developmental Disabilities

    The Drop-In Lounge is an exciting social opportunity for members to meet new friends and explore art, music, games, and more. The Drop-In Lounge is ideal for adults who can participate with minimal supervision. Members can partake in organized activities, or if they prefer, just relax and socialize.

    East Brooklyn Community Transfer High School

    A Transfer High School that provides intensive support to promote academic success among young people who are over age and under-credited

    Family Care for Adults with Developmental Disabilities

    Specially trained families provide support and guidance to individuals with a developmental disability in a structured, stable environment.

    In-home respite worker provides relief to the families caring for someone with a developmental disability.

    Individual Residential Alternatives (IRA)

    IRAs are homes and apartments of 10 or fewer residents that prepare adults with developmental disabilities to become productive members of their communities.

    Madonna Heights School

    A New York State Regents junior/senior high school for adolescent girls who live on the Madonna Heights campus or are referred by their local school district.

    SCO at East New York Middle School of Excellence

    After school and summer enrichment services for middle school students include homework assistance, youth development, and weekly instruction in creative/visual arts, performing arts, STEM, literacy, and recreation. ENYMSE is a Community School project.
