SCO Family of Services joins DAF Day as a Launch Partner, Spearheading a New Kind of Giving Day on October 10, 2024

This October, SCO Family of Services, a leading provider of essential human services, is collaborating on the launch of the first-ever DAF Day, a new kind of giving day that reframes how donor-advised funds (DAFs) are used – and who uses them.
DAFs are a tax-advantaged charitable giving account, similar to a 401(k) for retirement or a Health Saving Account (HSA) for health care expenses. DAFs enable donors to set aside funds to support the charitable causes they care about while benefitting from tax advantages.
“SCO is excited to partner with Chariot on DAF Day and the rollout of offering this innovative service to our supporters,” said Suzette Gordon, President and CEO of SCO Family of Services. “DAFs provide a flexible and tax-efficient way for donors to support SCO Family of Services, ensuring sustained and impactful contributions to our mission.”
DAFs have expanded rapidly in recent years, with the number of accounts growing 9x since 2012, disbursing $52 billion in 2022. New research on nonprofit DAF fundraising shows that DAF donors give 19x as much as non-DAF donors, and when an existing non-DAF donor starts giving from a DAF, their annual support increases 96%.
SCO Family of Services joins Chariot, the payments company dedicated to DAF giving, along with top nonprofits, major fundraising platforms, and donor advised funds themselves, to boost the usage and adoption of this fast-growing philanthropic vehicle in the weeks leading up to DAF Day on October 10th. This movement comes at a critical time for SCO’s mission to deliver vital human services to children, families and adults in need throughout NYC and Long Island, providing them with the necessary tools to achieve success. With $230 billion already set aside for giving in DAF accounts, the potential for nonprofit organizations is immense.
DAFpay, Chariot’s 3-click DAF payment option enabled on SCO’s website gives donors a best-in-class experience, enabling real-time participation and recognition of DAF donors in online fundraising – something that’s never been possible before.
Here’s how you can get involved in DAF Day
Ahead of DAF Day, we are encouraging donors with any DAF to sign up on DAFday.com in support of SCO Family of Services.
- Set an intention – Affirm you will make at least one DAF gift on Oct. 10.
- Make a goal – Share how much you hope to give from you DAF in one day.
- Name SCO Family of Services as the nonprofit you plan to support!
If you’re interested in how a DAF could increase your personal giving capacity, we also encourage you to explore DAF options before October 10th. You can reach out to Juliette McKenna at [email protected] to learn more or sign up to join the DAF 101 webinar session on August 8th.
