Garden of Dreams’ Jump Rope Donation Good for Body & Soul

August 31, 2020 / SCO News

Thanks to a grant from longtime partner Garden of Dreams, SCO was able to purchase more than 800 jump ropes for children, families and individuals with special needs in dozens of our programs throughout New York City and Long Island to help them stay active during the pandemic.

Many of the youth that we serve have not been able to leave our campuses due to the pandemic, so we have been seeking activities to ensure that they remain physically active while being socially distant. The jump ropes were a great addition to their daily routine. They have provided hours of fun, laughter and exercise.

They’ve also given families in our shelters, youth in foster care, residents in our homes for adults with special needs, and hundreds of other SCO clients reason to get out and get active.

This donation is one illustration of the many ways SCO staff has been working to keep clients safe and active during the COVID pandemic. SCO has compiled a variety of virtual activities on the SCO website to stimulate the mind, keep the body active and keep spirits up that clients, staff and supporters have utilized.
