SCO has PRIDE!

June 29, 2023 / Independent Youth News

June is PRIDE Month and youth and staff throughout SCO Family of Services celebrated.

4th Annual Pride at the Heights
On June 22nd, Madonna Heights held their “4th Annual PRIDE Event at the Heights.” All programs on the Madonna Heights campus were invited as well as our Westbrook Preparatory School, Deer Park & Queens Children’s Community Residences, and Office of Mental Health Field Office.

The festivities kicked-off with a parade around the campus – finishing in the gym for other PRIDE activities. Participants expressed themselves through art in the best poster/banner contest. The fun continued with the dance contest that followed. Lisa Robinson, Diversity and Equity Care Specialist from Northwell Health, was the guest speaker.

A big shout out to Family Peer Advocate Denise Delio for coordinating the event once again!

NYC PRIDE Parade
SCO youth and staff from our family and residential foster care programs joined thousands of other New Yorkers marching in the New York City PRIDE Parade on June 25th to represent SCO in a show of unity and support. It was a wonderful day for all!
