Direct Support Professionals Program Expands

February 1, 2018 – Glen Cove, NY – Thanks to a recent award of $96,000 from the New York State Department of Labor, SCO’s Center for Professional Development is expanding the work of our Direct Support Professionals (DSP) program. The DSP program provides classroom based and online training and interdisciplinary Learning Labs for the 200 Direct Support Professional who work with our children and adults with special needs every day – helping them develop and improve their job skills in order to succeed and advance in their direct support roles. Training focuses on four areas: Putting People First, Building and Maintaining Positive Relationships, Demonstrating Professionalism, and Supporting Safety.
