
Mike Spivey
Vice President, Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities Services
In June 2025, SCO appointed Mike Spivey as Vice President of Intellectual and Developmental Disability Services (I/DD), following his tenure as Interim Vice President since December 2024. In this role, Mike leads a comprehensive portfolio of residential and community-based programs under the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), supporting children and adults with I/DD in achieving independence and realizing their full potential.
His oversight includes a wide range of services such as Individual Residential Alternatives, Intermediate are Facilities, Family Care, Community and Day Habilitation (including Without Walls), Respite Care, Individual Supports and Services, and the Drop-in Lounge on Long Island. Additionally, he oversees The Christopher School Children’s Residential Project (CRP), a residential 853 school in the Bronx.
A valued member of the SCO family for nearly two decades, dedicated to serving individuals with special needs, Mike joined SCO in 2008. He began his journey as Supervisor of Recreation and Volunteer Programs at the Robert J. McMahon Children’s Center. He has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to individuals with special needs, steadily advancing through roles including Assistant Manager, Residence Manager, Program Coordinator, Program Director, and Interim VP.
Mike brings over 20 years of experience in the human services field, with a strong foundation in I/DD, youth development, and summer camp operations. Prior to SCO, he served as Youth and Family Program Director at the YMCA of Greater New York and continues to contribute as a board member for both the YMCA Greater New York Branch Camps and the NYPD Community Council.
Mike holds a dual degree in Human Services Organizational Management and Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix. A passionate advocate for marginalized communities, Mike is known for his collaborative spirit and unwavering dedication to service delivery. He is also a candidate of the National Leadership Consortium on Developmental Disabilities, further underscoring his commitment to excellence and innovation in the field of I/DD.
